TypeCon 2026

TypeCon 2026: Message is a conceptual identity for the annual TypeCon design conference. The concept is inspired by Marshall McLuhan’s philosophy “the medium is the message,” or that the medium through which information is presented can be more significant to its meaning than its outright content. Through this TypeCon 2026 identity, this idea has been pushed further to visualize how most modern-day typography, as absorbed through digital means, has begun to transform in meaning and significance through oversaturation.
The visual identity’s blue-and-green color palette and the repeated three-dot graphic element are inspired by and allude to text messaging, and the fragmented use of the display typeface as the main graphic asset visually communicates the transformation of typographic meaning.
