Elusive yet Powerful is a print production guidebook that outlines the fundamentals of print production, providing clear visuals and definitions for print-related terms. This book was designed through the namesake ambivalence of being “elusive yet powerful” which describes the unique ability of something to have a great impact while remaining hard to find or identify. This contrast reflects print production itself: printed material is everywhere, yet the processes behind it are mostly visible only to those producing it.

The hierarchy of type emphasizes this contrast: large pink headers dominate, while smaller subheaders and even smaller body text provide readable definitions and paragraphs. The flowing script appears sparingly, creating subtle moments of detail amid the dominant headers. The binding also reflects elusiveness, as the cover conceals the thread, tape, and glue that hold the pages together.
